Original text from 2015 post:
Last year on a freezing cold day in November, I wrapped our Christmas lights around the pillars on our front porch and on the bushes in our front yard by myself. It wasn’t over the top fancy, but I was 9 MONTHS PREGNANT with my son at the time!Crazy me, I had hoped that if I climbed up some chairs and did some bending over it might make him come out sooner, but nope!
I still can’t believe my husband didn’t help me with those lights last year!? He loves having Christmas lights, but he hates putting them up. But seriously man! Show some mercy to the poor pregnant lady!? And to top it all off, he actually ended up running over some of the Christmas lights with the snowblower before the season was over. Now my light display is going to be lopsided.
I always find it really difficult to get into the Christmas spirit when it’s nice outside, so I haven’t decorated anything yet this year. Nothing says Christmas to me more than frost on the rooftops, shivering on the way to the car, and those days where it’s freezing cold, but it’s not quite snowing and not quite raining. (Even better if it’s actually snowing!)
Those days may be dreary, but they totally inspire me to bust out the Christmas carols and pull out some decorations! We’ve already been listening to Christmas carolsfor weeks – it’s always a welcome change from the Disney soundtracks we normally have going in the van. Anddo you know what’s perfect to do on a cold, winteryday with Christmas carols blaring in the background? Why, some easy Christmas crafts of course!
